Cookies

On an ordinary visit this website sets no cookies at all — none for analytics, none for advertising, nothing stored to recognise you. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. There is one exception, described below rather than passed over in silence: the gr_int flag, which is written only if you deliberately open a page with ?internal=1 appended.

Google Analytics 4 — measurement without cookies

Visits are measured with Google Analytics 4, and it runs without cookies: Google stores nothing on your device and reads nothing from it, so it does not recognise you across visits or pages. Each measurement message carries the page address, where the visit came from, the IP address (from which Google derives an approximate location) and general device and browser characteristics. That data may be processed outside New Zealand. Our own measurement code does read your browser on every page view, for the internal-visit flag described below. See also the privacy policy.

How consent works

Consent works the same way for every visitor, in every country — including New Zealand. Tags are governed by Google Consent Mode v2, which starts with advertising and analytics storage denied by default for everyone — there is no region where a cookie is set by default. This site carries no consent message and no other mechanism that could lift that default, so measurement stays cookieless permanently.

There is no advertising on this site, and no advertising tag on the page. If that ever changes, this page will list the cookies used and explain how to give, manage or withdraw consent first — and any refusal will have no effect on how the calculator works.

Excluding our own visits

One exception, named here rather than passed over in silence: on every page view the measurement code checks whether the gr_int flag is present in your browser. That is our own exclusion for internal visits, so that our test traffic does not end up in the figures. It is written only when a page is opened with ?internal=1 appended — as a cookie with a lifetime of one year, and additionally in local storage. Without that, nothing is written, and nothing on this site links to it. It holds a single flag and nothing about you. You delete it by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
